Kendrick Lamar sits down with www.RAILROADHIPHOP.COM and discusses his Monster Freestyle, touches on the legend that is Dash Snow, and he also speaks on the songs “ROTC” and “Average Joe”.
checked out your site it’s pretty dope. where are you from? I got my own site going we have similar music tastes. I make beats and rap and whatnot we should work together on some shit. Fellymusic . com hit me back
@amenos33 That’s a very interesting point. The level of overt competitiveness in hip hop does seem to far exceed other genres. I’d imagine b/c of hip hop’s mass popularity–its seen as a means to get rich, and until the era of user created media (YouTube etc) there were many less outlets to reach fans. That breeds competition. Also one of the foundations of MC’ing is the battle. Can’t say it’s new though, it’s no different than two blues guitarists having a duel.
I love hip hop, and I love section 80. But i have to say, what is with every rapper trying to be the best? Its an attitude or like perspective that is unique to rappers. I feel like music is creative…to be qualitatively analyzed not quantitatively. Its not finite or discrete..the measurable variables in music are so scattered its hard to make a concrete analysis if one thing is “better” than another..just if you like it more. So to be the best rapper what does that insinuate? Being rich?
