Originally affiliated with Ice Cube, Kam’s releases appeared sporadically, initially debuting on the Boyz N the Hood Movie soundtrack in 1991 with his song, “Every Single Weekend”. Kam later released his first solo album in early 1993 entitled, “Neva Again”–on East/West Atlantic Records. He immediately became a household/HOODhold-name with his 1st single, “Peace Treaty” which chronicled the Historic Los Angeles GANG TRUCE between the Crips & the Bloods following the 1992 Unrest in LA due to the ‘Not Guilty’ Verdicts handed down to the policemen accused of brutality in the infamous Rodney King beating-case. His powerful sophomore release, “Made in America” was released to critical acclaim in 1995, although a lack of commitment from the Label, due to the merger between Warner/Elektra/Atlantic (WEA), and his Spiritual/Political stance at the time, eventually led to his departure.
