Legendary West Coast Pioneer Kam speaks on the state of West Coast Hip-Hop and the negative influence of Hollyweird in this episode of 60 Seconds. Kam first appeared on the soundtrack of John Singleton groundbreaking movie Boyz n the Hood with Every Single Weekend. He turned it up a notch with his politically charged debut album Neva Again which featured the classic tribute to the LA gang truce Peace Treaty. Kam followed that up with revolutionary albums Made in America, and Kamnesia Born from a dedication to unadulterated truth, Jasiri X teamed up with legendary West Coast Hip-Hop artist Kam and his brother Yung Bruh to produce one of the most intellectually lethal artistic concoctions to date, “Fruit Pruno”. Fruit Pruno is lyricism resurrected to produce what can only be defined as the Hereafter for Hip-Hop.

Our indi scene is cool and I think that is where were going to have to go. But we need our fans in the city to support it they are influenced by corporate America. They feel if your not on the radio or TV your a nobody that is the problem you go to Atlanta or even a Jax FL you know who swordz is you know who playboy tre is etc. these are unsigned artist who are doing their thing on the indi scene and winning. That is why I buy indi west artist to support my city fans here need to do the same!

  21. oleold says:

I was born in the west Los Angeles Ca. What has killed our scene is no K-day. Not that new corporate K-day but the old K-day who were about the community and help birth the west coast scene. The thing with the Old K-day Greg Mack and Russ Parr Lisa Cannon they were about the community and they went to the hoods to promote the station and the new talent coming out of the west. Stations like Power 106 don’t do that. They don’t play new west artist. Our radio stations hurt our scene.

  22. WurmNadasdy says:

Don’t get me wrong, Kam is a dope talent and I used to bump everything from peace treaty to the shit he did with mc ren back in the day. But to blame the decline of a music climate on Zionism is lame dude. That’s not the force. Jerry Heller (a Jew) helped Eazy to promote NWA to the whole world. And that was the root of all West Coast hip hop period. It’s all about skills. There are few artists which are still doing it really dope in LA
